Niangziguan

Known as 'the ninth Pass under heaven', Niangziguan is situated 45 km (27.9 miles) northeast of Pingding County in Shanxi Province. Originally named Weizeguan, it was renamed to Niangziguan (the Pass of Women Soldiers) because Princess Pingyang led the women army to set up defenses here. Niangziguan Pass is also famous for the beautiful scenery. On the southeast of the pass, the Great Wall zigzags on the Mianshan Mountain, while on the west, the Taohe River surrounds the pass. There are also the Laojun Cave, the Niangziguan Waterfall and the Beacon Tower around the pass.
