Confucius Temple

Beijing Confucius Temple is located at the Guozijian Street of Dongcheng District. It is one of the most famous Confucius Temples in China, along with the Qufu Confucius Temple, Zhengzhou Confucius Temple and Tianjin Confucius Temple. Beijing Confucius Temple was built in the Yuan Dynasty (1271 - 1368), and was the place where imperial officials pay respect to the ancient sage Confucius and to hold the memorable ceremonies to honor Confucius from the Yuan Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911). The temple also houses many cultural relics such as Qing-Dynasty Stone Drums and many stone tablets inscribed with Confucian masterpieces.
