Yumbu Lakang is located on the top of a small hill 5 km southeast of Nedong County, Shannan. Built more than 2,000 years ago, it is the first palace in Tibetan history, and the first emperor of Tibet is said to live here.

Yamdrok Yumtso Lake, the 'Swan Lake' in Tibetan language, is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet, along with the Namtso Lake and the Mansarovar Lake. It is famous for the beautiful landscape of the lake, the snow mountains and the meadows.

Samye Temple, namely Cunxiang Temple or Wubian Temple, is located in Samye Town in Chanang County, Shannan. Initially built in the 8th century, it is known as the first temple which has tonsured monks in Tibet, and is also famous for plenty of historical relics such as murals and statues.
