The origin of Shaolin Martial Arts, Shaolin Temple is a Chan Buddhist temple located at the west foot of the Songshan Mountain, 13 kilometers (8 miles) northwest of Dengfen City of Henan Province. There are many scenic spots in it, including the Pagodas, Chuzu Convent, Erzu Convent, Bodhidharma's Cave and the Ancestral Temple. Founded in the 5th century, it is long famous as the representative of Chinese Martial Arts, and the unique image of the Chan Sect culture of Chinese Buddhism.
