Gansu Great Wall Photos

Located 5 km (3.1 miles) west of Jiayuguan City, Gansu Province, Jiayuguan is the most important pass in the west part of the Ming-dynasty wall in China as well as one communication center of the ancient Silk Road.

Dunhuang Han-Dynasty Great Wall is located in the north of Dunhuang City, Gansu Province. It was built in the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - 24 AD) to protect the local people from enemies' invasion.

Located in Shandan County, Gansu Province, Shandan Great Walls are the best-preserved ancient walls in China. They are two parallel walls built in the Han (260 BC - 220) and Ming (1368 - 1644) Dynasties, hence renowned for 'the Great Wall Museum in the open air'.

Xiakou Ancient Town lies in Shandan County of Gansu Province, not far from the Shandan Great Walls. With a history of more than 2,000 years, the Xiakou area was the only pass connecting the Central Plain and the Western Regions in ancient times.
