- Jokhang Temple

Built in 647, Jokhang Temple was built by Songzan Ganbu, King of Tibet formerly, to memorize his wife Princess Wencheng of the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907). It is a huge building complex, combining the architectural style of the Tang Dynasty, India and Nepal. In the very middle of the main hall are worshipped a life-sized gold-plated bronze statue of 12-year-old Sakyamuni, on both sides of which are worshipped the statues of Songzan Ganbu, Princess Wencheng and Princess Chizun of Nepal.
